baby quilt, 41"x 42"
Hand-dyed cotton fabrics, wool batting.
Front: whole cloth; Back: pieced; tied.
The leaf images on this quilt are from a great tree in front of a friend's apartment. I always found their forms beautiful, and finally started using them as printing objects. The yellow squares are the result of a special roller I made. When I first ink up the roller and use it, I get filled-in squares, but as I print more and more with the roller (before I put more paint on it), I get squares with an empty center, the result of the thickened dye accumulating in the spaces next to the foam squares on my roller.
There are two fabrics on the back of the quilt. The center one is a clamp resist, and the other is made with my special prepared roller which makes stripes.
