"Crossroads" 19"x28" framed hanging artist-dyed cotton fabrics, pieced and stretched on a wooden frame value $375 Above is my contribution to a fabulous raffle, the proceeds of which went to benefit the Putney Historical Society. A further explanation is below. On November 1, 2009 The Putney (Vermont) General Store burned to the ground as a result of arson. This event shocked and saddened our small community, and there was a huge outpouring of support. The Putney Craft Tour sponsored a magnificent raffle, with 23 seperate prizes donated by artists on the Tour. We raised $6,500 for the Putney Historical Society, which will begin rebuilding the General Store as soon as warmer weather arrives. Many have contributed to this project, including donations of materials and labor. Everyone who donated will feel proud to have been a part of the effort, when we see a store again on Route 5 in Putney, Vermont, perhaps as soon as fall of 2010. A sincere thank-you to all who have helped! If you're interested in keeping track of what's going on, or want to contribute to the Historical Society, follow this link. |
